LRA attack in Ezo refugee camp

Yesterday morning I was woken up by a phone call from our Camp Manager in Ezo. He told me that the LRA had attacked the camp around midnight. 4 LRA had killed one man and abducted one man, one woman and one 12 year old boy.

The man and the woman were released a little while later in the bush, but the boy was still with the LRA when they came under attack from some villagers in a village called Nabuye. The LRA quite often kidnap children to turn them in to “new” LRA by forcing them to kill and to shape them in an early age. During the attack on the LRA by the villagers, the boy managed to escape, but was shot in the head.

The refugee man who was killed in the camp was a single father. His wife had been killed in DRC last year. Together they had 3 children, now without a mother and a father.

This is not how life is supposed to be.

People without anything, having been forced to escape their homes and their land should not be terrorised for more.

They have nothing left – not even their sense of security.

This is not how it is supposed to be.
